As many of you know, the stay of enforcement of the law that bans the sale of kids' dirtbikes and ATVs - the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008 – comes to an end this December. That's a few quick months away. Today's youth, and those that follow, need our help to ensure kids' dirtbikes and ATVs are exempt from this law before it is too late.
This may sound like a daunting task, but it is doable, especially with your help. Together, we can change the law!
For all who join this fight, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has created a "Kids Just Want to Ride!" webpage. See "How You Can Help" for a list of suggestions. To view the history of the CPSIA, click here.
Supporting this cause can be as easy as sharing the "Kids Just Want to Ride!" website on your Facebook page or other social networks, talking about the ban with friends, family and your fellow riders, to writing a letter for your local newspaper editor. Opportunities that require more effort include helping a young rider create a video for Kids Just Want to Ride! video contest and/or attending the AMA Family Capitol Hill Climb in D.C., where you will meet with your lawmakers and urge their support for the Kids Just Want to Ride Act.
Any and all efforts to save youth riding are greatly appreciated and help bring us one step closer towards changing the law. If we all pitch in, we can and will save the future of youth riding.
Please review the list of suggestions on how you can help save youth riding, available on the "Kids Just Want to Ride!" webpage under "How You Can Help." If you have any questions or would like the AMA's assistance with your efforts to help the cause, let the AMA Grassroots Team know.
Thank you for your activism – to those who have already taken action on this issue and those who join the fight. Thank you for any and all efforts you contribute towards this important cause. And while we are at it, thank you for being a subscribed recipient of our alerts.
The AMA and youth riders appreciate for your activism.
Sincerely,
AMA Grassroots Team
